Stirling 900: A Celebration of People and Place

Between April 2024 and April 2025, the city of Stirling celebrated the 900th anniversary of becoming a Royal Burgh. As part of that very special milestone, the Stirling Photography Festival invited the wider community to document the year in pictures which could then be included in a commemorative photo book. The book was officially released on 6th of August 2025 as a curated collection, drawn from images submitted by amateur photographers, professionals, visitors to Stirling and locals, each photograph captures a special moment during this celebratory year.

There were many photographs submitted in our open call to the public which were not included in the book and so we take this opportubity to share the complete collection of submitted photographs as a digital exhibition.

The creation of the photo book “Stirling 900: A Celebration of People and Place” was generously sponsored by Stirling Heritage Alliance and supported by the Lord Provost of Stirling Elaine Watterson. Copies of the book are available to buy from the gift shops at the Church of the Holy Rude and Legends at the Monument. If you are visiting do consider buying a copy to see the stunning collection of photographs included, along with poems by our Stirling Makars during the celebration year, “Her slow-beating heart” by Laura Fyfe and “900: A Celebration”  by Kevin P. Gilday.
